Greetings! I am Lidewij (pronounced: Lee-duh-why). Care to give it a try? I dare ya!
Nestled in a quaint village in the serene north-west countryside of the Netherlands, along with my husband and our little boy, I paint the enchantments of nature. Art and music have always been my guiding lights, deeply rooted passions that shape my creative journey.
Formally trained in fine art, I spent four transformative years at the Wackers Art Academy in bustling Amsterdam. There, the classical approach to painting and drawing from life became my foundation.
While my journey initially ventured into illustration, the allure of fine art became the soulful core of my work.
My muse? Nature—her whispers blended with melodies, folklore, history, and the ancient myths and legends that dance through time.
Scotland, with its landscapes and rich culture, holds a special place in my heart. Childhood summers spent amidst its wonders left an everlasting enchantment on both me and my creations.
In my world, I craft mystical landscapes beckoning viewers to spiritually dive in and explore. It's a dance of colors, emotions, and ethereal realms, inviting you to go on an adventure in the magic between brushstrokes.
When my brushes rest, I make music!
As a folk fiddler and vocalist, I play Irish, Scottish and
Oldtime Americana music.
I am currently active in a band called:
‘’The Oldtime Stringband’’. <—Have a peek!
